Dream Out Loud is finally available!
Dream Out Loud was written by Nancy McPhee who is the director of Stephen's Backpacks For Children In Need Society as well as Stephen's mother. The book outlines the inspiring journey Stephen and his family embarked upon that brought them to where they are today.
Stephen's Backpacks Society was born out of the desire of a child to help other children. We believe this is a great thing. Children and youth who are encouraged to let their empathy inspire action are going to one day change our world for the better. We truly believe this and so we encourage you to encourage your child to reach out and help another less fortunate children. Consider a new family tradition … to make up backpacks for homeless children and children in need.
The moving and inspirational story of Stephen and his family is available for purchase. All proceeds go to support all of the worth while work we do here at Stephen's Backpacks.

If you would like a more hands-on experience, sponsoring a backpack for yourself or as a special gif for someone is a great way to get involved. A backpack including contents costs $40.00-$50.00 per child. We are very careful to only include appropriate items in our backpacks, so we ask that you closely follow the guidelines we have outlined in the following document.

Each year we hope to make hundreds of backpacks to be giving to children in need. A corporation, an individual, or a business may want to donate a number of backpacks or appropriate gifts to be included in backpacks. If you are interesting in doing such a thing, consider contacting us so that we can advise you on specifics about the kinds and sizes of backpacks we are in need of.
Groups such as Girl Guides, Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs, and sports teams might want to consider support Stephen's Backpacks Society as a group. For example, a sports group might decide to put together 20 sport-themed backpacks. This can be a great way to boost awareness of your group in you community. It also cultivates an attitude of social responsibility within the members of your group.
Schools are encouraged to participate in this great outreach as individuals or classrooms. Bring in your gifts and assemble backpacks together as a class or school-wide project.
In 2008 we are collecting new indoor and outdoor running shoes for homeless children and children in need for the fall of 2008. We will put two pairs of shoes and school supplies in a package or tote bag. Shoes of all sizes are needed as we will be supplying as many school aged kids as possible. This means shoes for people up to 18 years of age will be needed.
